The Coming AI Revolution: From Arithmetic to Abundance
Archive note: This page documents the December 2025 launch event. For current gathering details and ways to stay involved, visit the Community Meet-Up page.
December 4, 2025 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

The Wave is Here.
Artificial Intelligence is no longer just a chatbot or a sci-fi concept. It is a fundamental shift in economics, science, and how we live.
We are standing at the edge of the greatest technological transition since the industrial revolution. The question is no longer if it will happen, but how we will adapt.
Join us at the Longmont Museum for a comprehensive presentation that moves beyond the hype. We will strip away the magic to look at the math, the physics, and the hard data driving this explosion in intelligence.
What You Will Learn:
- The Engine: Why this growth is exponential, not linear (and why that matters).
- The Horizon: How AI moves from “Chatbots” to “Agents” that can plan and act.
- The Impact: A realistic look at the future of education, jobs, healthcare, and energy.
- The Opportunity: How we move from “Scarcity” (of labor and intelligence) to “Abundance.”
More Than Just a Talk: Launching “NextWave”
This evening serves as the official launch of the Longmont NextWave Initiative.
We believe that the future shouldn’t just happen to Longmont; we should help shape it. NextWave is a grassroots community organization dedicated to:
- Education: Exploring how schools and families can prepare.
- Resilience: Building a safety net for local workers and businesses.
- Policy: Advocating for “Data Dignity” and local rights.
This early event invited builders, teachers, parents, and residents to explore proposed working groups. The current structure is Understand, Prepare, and Apply.
The Speaker
Jason Vallery is the VP of Product at VAST Data and a former Group Product Manager at Microsoft Azure. Having watched the “plumbing” of the AI revolution being built from the inside for over a decade, Jason brings a perspective that bridges the gap between Silicon Valley tech and Longmont community values.
The Format
- Part 1: Presentation: “From Arithmetic to Abundance”
- Part 2: Fireside Chat & Skeptical Inquiry
- Part 3: Audience Q&A and NextWave Kickoff
